| ONGC Petro-additions Limited (OPaL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat-based Torrent Energy Limited, for supply of bulk power by Torrent to ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. (OPaL). |
| ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. (OPaL) has been promoted by Oil & Gas major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) to set up a Petrochemicals Complex at Dahej in Gujarat. Government of Gujarat has already designated Torrent Power Limited as co-developer for generation & distribution of Power in Dahej SEZ and Torrent Power has incorporated Torrent Energy to implement a 1500 MW LNG/Gas-based power plant. |
| Torrent Energy will set up a Gas-based power plant at Dahej Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) in first phase of the project to be commissioned by 2011-12. As per the MoU, Torrent will provide OPaL with sustained power supply, in synchronization with OPaL's planned commissioning of its Petrochemicals Complex. |
| The MoU was signed today (14th May 2008) in GIDC office in Gandhi Nagar by ONGC Director (HR & Business Development) Dr. A K Balyan, who is also OPaL's Director. Director of Torrent Power Mr. Markand Bhatt signed the MoU on behalf of Torrent Energy Ltd. The MoU was signed in presence of Vice Chairman & Managing Director of GIDC Mr. M Sahu and Group Chairman of Torrent Group Mr. Sudhir Mehta. Others present were ONGC's Executive Director Mr. S Ramachandran and other senior officers of ONGC, GIDC and Torrent Group. |
