Description
We offer a wide choice of woollen shawls that re procured from Kullu, a place that has always occupies a place of pride among the native handloom products. Featuring world famous traditional patterns & superior quality, they are offered at reasonable costs.

Features:

  • It is a light woollen fabric measuring 1 x 2 meters and usually draped it around & over the chest and shoulders
  • The designs available in different geometric patterns are available along the ends of the shawl
  • Each design can be developed from one to eight colors
  • Generally, the yarn used is Angora wool, Merino wool, Pashmina wool, local sheep wool or a combination of any of these
  • Also available in men's variety known as Loi or Chaddar
  • Angora, Pashmina & Local wool shawls offered can be offered in both classic traditional & modern designs

Kullu Shawl:

  • Woven from undyed wool, these shawls feature neutral ground & vibrant borders
  • These are a more simplified version of the Kinnauri shawl, where the latter features small sized but complex motifs & detailed patterning
  • In Kullu shawl these designs are both enlarged & simplified
  • As labour involved is less, these shawls are also less expensive than its Kinnauri counterpart

What Makes Kullu Shawl Stand Out:

  • Its vibrant, geometric patterned borders
  • Widely influenced by weaving traditions from Central Asia (especially Tibet and Mongolia)
  • Come in subdued ground colours like grey, black, brown and white with patterns woven from red, orange, pink, yellow, blue, black, white & green yarns
  • These shawls can be made available in a wide variety of yarn including wool, angora, pashmina or handspun material

Why Should We Promote Kullu Shawl:

  • With the advent of cheap, machine-woven shawls (from Punjab), weavers of hand woven Kullu shawls are facing stiff competition
  • This garment has been awarded both GI certification & Woolmark certification
  • These shawls are available through own weaving sheds established in 1944 Weaver's Co-operative Society
  • These products come from Co-operative society, which act as a bridge between weaver and seller thus making sure that profit reaches directly to the seller
